Two Full Weeks

I returned to work today after a wonderful two full weeks of staycation.   My daughter was with me and for one day she was my model, although I tried to sneak in some pics of her when I could.  We went one day to the Museum of Science and Technology and had her model with an old locomotive which is on display in front of the Musuem.  She was paid, do not worry...her payment was an ice cap from Tim Horton’s.

We also visited a legal graffiti wall in Ottawa under Bronson Avenue near Carleton University and this is one of my favourite from the many pieces of art work.

Before and After

So, I was thinking that is was about time to get my dog groomed and rid him of his excess fur.  Not sure if he is happy with the results or not...quite a difference.

Well....I will let the before and after photos describe it all better than I could ever.

"BEFORE"

and "AFTER"

Trust me....it is the same dog.  Well...atleast he is cooler for the remainder of the summer.

Ottawa Fat Cats - Canada Day

I had the pleasure to shadow Michael Gauthier from http://freedomphotography.ca/.   This is the third time shadowing Michael and it was a great experience.   The Fat Cats beat the Barrie Baycats 8-7 in a battle that went back and forth with Ottawa coming out on top.

The Fat Cats play out of the Ottawa Stadium in the Intercounty Baseball League which was establised in 1919.  Their current season they hold a record of 11 wins and 14 losses.

Ride for Dad Ottawa

This past weekend was the Motorcycle Ride for Dad Ottawa.  Since the year 2000, this event has grown over the years and has raised funds and awareness for the fight for prostate cancer.

Over 31 cities take part in this event over the year and this year in Ottawa there was over 2,000 riders riding for the cause.

2011 Ottawa Marathon

I had the privilege today to watch amazing men and women put their body through a grueling physical test of endurance and run the 2011 Ottawa Marathon.

I began the morning at the 2 km mark of the marathon, the marathoners started the day in light rain and overcast skies followed them along their 42km journey.

I ended the morning capturing the runners at the 37km mark, only 5 km away from the finish.

The lead pack did not change from the start to the end of this race.  The winner was Laban Moiben with a time of 2hrs 10min and 17.9sec.

My hats off to those that competed no matter their time result.....just running is exceptional enough.

Level Six Capital Cup 2011

It was a gorgeous day for the 9th Annual (take 2) Level Six Capital Cup 2011.  The event is a freestyle kayak festival and competition for amateurs and pros.  The location of this event was the Camplain Rapids at Bates Island on the Ottawa River.

The skill of these kayakers was amazing.  Competitors ranged from the amateurs who are in for the fun of it to world champions.  There was one kayaker from New Zealand and one from Tennessee.

I am looking forward to attending more events like this in the near future.  One thing I learned today....get there early, grab a great spot to shoot from and expect to stay a long time and watch some amazing athletes.

Finally some nice weather

They say April showers bring May flowers, well - I am guessing that Ottawa will be overrun with Flowers within the first week of May.  Too much rain the past couple of weeks.  I took the opportunity of the day or so of nice weather and went to Champlain Bridge here in Ottawa and shoot kayakers.   While I was there I noticed an advertisment for Level Six Capital Cup April 30, 2011 - so I will be returning for some more photos.  Until then - enjoy.
